American Silver Eagle coins are available from the US Mint each year in bullion, proof, and burnished versions. The coins in the bullion series are far and away the most popular in terms of mintage. On the obverse of all 2019 American Silver Eagles is Adolph A. Weinman’s image of Lady Liberty. Originally conceived by Weinman in 1916, this design was used on the circulation half dollar from 1916 to 1947. The design was revived and modernized in 1986 for the Silver Eagle. It features a left-profile view of Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon as she wears the American flag over her shoulders and reaches out with her right hand. Her left hand clutches the branches of oak and laurel signifying American military and civic prowess.

The reverse of 2019 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design was modified in 1986 by John Mercanti and includes an American bald eagle behind the national shield. The bird clutches the arrows of war and olive branch of peace in his talons with 13 stars overhead.
