Ing Ing Jong has been the designer of Lunar Series II coins for the Perth Mint since 2013, and has created a beautiful design on the 2018 Australian Silver Dog coins. With a different design than the gold releases in 2018, these coins feature two German shepherd dogs. This design is used across all silver releases in the collection for 2018.

On both the obverse and reverse side, the coins are minted on a concave surface to ensure the optimum flow of the metal during striking. The obverse of all 2018 Australian Silver Dog Coins includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation portrait of Her Majesty to feature on Australian coins, and this one comes from British Royal Mint designer Ian Rank-Broadley who completed it in 1998 for British coinage and other commonwealth products.
