Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins share the same design features of the Gold Maple Leaf, which was introduced nine years earlier. The Silver Maple Leaf has undergone fewer changes in its history than the gold version. For example, it has always featured .9999 pure silver while the gold debuted in just .999 purity.

Conversely, the Silver Maple Leaf has less variety, being offered only in a 1 oz weight while the gold has a 1 oz. and four fractional-weights. The reverse and obverse design sets are shared by both coins and never change from one year to the next.

The reverse face of all 2017 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins bears the image of a sugar maple leaf. Surrounding it are engravings identifying the nation of issue, purity of the coin, and its weight and metal content.

On the obverse of the 2017 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, it is the third-generation image of Her Majesty to appear on Canadian Silver Maple Leaf products.

All 2017 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf products feature the latest security measures in design from the RCM. Micro-laser engraved radial lines are visible on both sides of the coin. The reverse includes an additional maple leaf privy mark, inside of which you’ll find the year of issue visible only under magnification.

The 2017 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins in this listing are in BU condition. Coins in BU condition have no signs of wear and tear, however there are minor flaws such as breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, and contact marks present from the striking process at the mint.
