The Proof American Gold Eagle Coin debuted alongside its bullion counterpart in 1986 with only these 1 oz gold coin coins available. The Proof Gold Eagles expanded in 1987 with the introduction of a 1/2 oz coin and two more fractional weights in 1988. The series now offers something for every collector from these 1 oz coins down to the popular, diminutive 1/10 oz coin.

On the obverse side of all Proof American Gold Eagle Coins is Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic design of Lady Liberty. The vision depicted here was originally available on the $20 Gold Double Eagle Coin and came with 46 stars around the figure of Liberty. On these coins, Liberty is depicted in the same design with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The design has been updated for this series with the inclusion of 50 stars representing all the modern states of the nation.

The reverse face of 2019 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins includes a design from Miley Busiek. Her design captures a male eagle in flight over the nest with an olive branch in its talons. The nest includes a female eagle with a young hatchling she protects.

All Proof American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you from the United States Mint. The US Mint strikes the coins at the West Point Mint and all of them come with a “W” mint mark on the obverse.
