The Mexican Silver Libertad coin debuted from the Mexican Mint in 1982 with just a 1 oz silver coin available. The series remained limited to this one coin option until 1991. Between 1991 and 1996 though, the Silver Libertad series experienced exponential growth in variety as four fractional-weight coins were introduced in 1991, followed by the 2 oz and 5 oz coins in 1996.
