Available as an all-new issue in 2018, these 2018 1 oz Canadian Silver Incuse Maple Leaf Coins take the well-known design of the Silver Maple Leaf and put a small twist on the coin’s strike that makes it unique and brilliant enough to mark such a special occasion. The sugar maple leaf design on the reverse has been struck in an incuse manner for this release.

An incuse design field as used on the reverse of these coins sinks the design elements into the surface of the coin, rather than striking the blanks to raise a design up from the surface. The Royal Canadian Mint’s advanced anti-counterfeiting technologies are all brought to bear on these coins, with the radial lines present on both sides, as well as the micro-engraved maple leaf on the reverse.

On the obverse of all 2018 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s right-profile portrait featured here was designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, the second Canadian artist ever to create the Queen’s effigy for Canadian coinage.

The reverse of the 2018 1 oz Canadian Silver Incuse Maple Leaf features the common sugar maple leaf design, which for this year has been struck in incuse fashion on the coin. Engravings on this face include the nation of issue, purity, metal content, and weight of the coin.
