The Australian Silver Koala coin is one of the most popular annual releases from Australia’s Perth Mint. The Perth Mint introduced the Australian Silver Koala coin in 2007, and it was met with immediate demand and interest. Like the Australian Silver Kookaburra, which debuted in 1990, the Koala design changes every year on these beloved bullion products.

Each 2016 Australian Silver Koala coin in this product listing has a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins with an MS70 grade have full, original luster from the mint and lack any detracting flaws on the surface.

In order for coins to earn the Early Release designation from the NGC, the product must first meet certain stipulations. In the case of the ER designation, coins must arrive at the NGC or an NGC-approved depository within 30 days of the release date for the coin set by the Perth Mint.

On the reverse face of the coin is the latest image of a koala, this time a depiction of the marsupial as it climbs along a tree branch. Engravings include “Australian Koala” and “1 oz. 999 Fine Silver.”

The obverse features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The 1998 design from Ian Rank Broadley remains in use on these coins, though a new revised portrait from Jody Clark was released in July 2015 and is now appearing on certain commonwealth and British coins.
