The 2014 Cowboy in the Rockies $25 Canadian Silver Coin is produced by the Royal Canadian Mint and is part of their popular O Canada series which celebrates iconic Canadian Images. Each of these coins has been struck in .9999 fine silver, weighs 1 troy ounce and has been assigned a $25 CAD face value. The coins are shipped individually in their sealed RCM packaging which includes a maroon clamshell display box with a numbered COA.

There are few natural formations in this world more awe inspiring and majestic than the Rocky Mountains which stretch from the southern United States into the northern regions of Canada. As part of the Royal Canadian Mint’s O Canada Coin series, the Rockies make a memorable appearance on this fine silver commemorative coin.

The 2014 1 oz Cowboy in the Rockies $25 Canadian Silver coin is the fourth coin in the Royal Canadian Mint’s O Canada Series. Though it did not come first, the image on this coin is perhaps the most intricately designed and detailed coin in the entire series. Canadian artist Bernie Brown designed the feature image on the Cowboy in the Rockies coin. His intricate design features a lone cowboy riding his mount in the foothills of the Rockies, leading a second horse along as well. Above the cowboy’s image is the word “Canada.” Below him is the face value of the coin, 25 dollars. Small stamps on either side of the primary image include a cowboy hat and the mintage year of the coin (2014). Behind the cowboy, the majestic Rocky Mountains tower above all else.

On the opposite side of the coin is the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that is emblazoned on all of the coins in the O Canada Series, as well as the majority of the circulation coins used in Canada. The reverse side features the image of Queen Elizabeth II, complete with her name (Elizabeth II) on one side, and the phrase “D.G. Regina” on the other. That phrase is Latin for “Dei Gratia Regina,” which in English means “By the Grace of God, Queen.”

The Royal Canadian Mint was commissioned by Great Britain in the early 20th century to process and refine the gold found in the Yukon Territories. Completed in 1908, the mint has produced some of the most advanced, pure bullion products the world has ever seen. Today, the mint is responsible for producing commemorative and circulation currency for the Government of Canada.
