Death is so feared by human civilizations that it has taken on a personification known as the Grim Reaper. Humanity is so afraid of the unknown that is involved with death that it has taken on a pseudo-human form that chases people down to claim their lives. This personification of death provides the illusion that it could potentially be defeated if only one can outrun death as it chases them down.

In most human civilizations, the Grim Reaper is personified in a male form. The figure is skeletal, though usually draped in a black cloak with a hood over its head. The only skeletal elements one can see in the average depiction is the lifeless skull and the boney fingers reaching out to drag you to the grave.

On the obverse side of 1.5 oz Monarch Silver Grim Reaper Tombstone Bars is the image of a cross that includes the face of the Grim Reaper in the center of the cross. Eerie text on the cross includes “RIP” at the top of the cross and the date of 2019 in Roman numerals at the base of the cross tombstone as “MMXIX.” Other elements of the obverse design include an hourglass with the sands of time running out, a spider weaving its web above the cross, and the scythe of the reaper.

The reverse of the Monarch Silver Grim Reaper Tombstone Bars includes the Monarch Precious Metals crown logo formed by “MPM.” Below are the engravings of the weight, purity, and metal content of the bar. Each silver bar has a dark polish to build on the element of death.
