The Chinese Lunar Calendar is currently on the Year of the Goat. Each Chinese Lunar Calendar year runs from February to February, and this year the cycle has reached the 8^th animal on the Zodiac. The Chinese Lunar Calendar, also known as the Zodiac, is a 12-year calendar that rotates between a number of animals representative personality traits and characteristics which are believed to be associated with people born in that same year. Goats are said to be creative, honest, calm, gentle, and thoughtful creatures, and those born under the sign of the goat share those traits.

Each of the 12 animals in the Zodiac were chosen by the Jade Emperor, according to ancient Chinese legend. The emperor called for a meeting of the animal kingdom, and only 12 animals showed up. The order in which these animals arrived following the Great Race determined their position on the Zodiac.

On the obverse side of the 5 oz OPM Silver Year of the Goat Bar is a lone mountain goat standing atop a mountainous outcrop. The goat is above the engravings of “2015,” “Year of the Goat,” the Chinese symbol for Goat, and the bar’s weight, metal content, and purity.

The reverse side of the bar features a repeating image of the Ohio Precious Metals corporate logo, along with an engraving in the bottom-left corner of the company’s logo and shorthand name of “OPM.”
