There was a tiered system of law enforcement in the American West, much as there is today. Although fewer in number and covering vast distances, these lawmen worked together to keep the peace between settlers, Native American tribes, and the criminals that sought refuge in the West’s expansive reaches.

Local policing was handled by town marshals, elected by the populace and given the power to hire deputies. US Marshals, though often used interchangeably in folk lore with sheriffs, were actually federal government employees with jurisdiction across the country to pursue criminals on federal charges. Sheriffs were chosen to police countywide, and in some states had the authority to cross county lines within the state in pursuit of justice.

With an antique polish, the intricate details of this sheriff design are enhanced and the round itself appears as old as the Wild West itself. The sheriff is similar to the Jolly Roger image, with a skeletal figure wearing a cowboy hat and boasting a pair of crossed rifles below his chin.
