Ararat is the biblical resting place of Noah’s Ark, and prior to World War I was included within the national boundaries of Armenia.

On the reverse side of the coin is the motif of Noah’s Ark. The design centers on the ark as it floats on the flood waters. In the background, the sun’s rays emerge over the peaks of Mount Ararat. In the foreground, a lone dove flies into the picture holding an olive branch. The obverse side features the national coat of arms for Armenia, as well as the phrase “Republic of Armenia” in both English and Armenian.

Germany’s Geiger Edelmetalle, a private mint, strikes and distributes these coins for Armenia. Each coin features .999 fine silver, and the 10 oz. Silver Noah’s Ark carries a face value of 5,000 Dram.
