Each of these 100 oz Texas Mint Silver Bars is a product of the state’s privately operated Texas Mint. The facility is known for producing both silver rounds and silver bars that feature imagery representative of the Lone Star State. The Texas State Capitol Building that stands today in Austin, Texas is the third capitol building in state history. The very first was a modest, simple wooden structure that was used until 1853 when a second capitol building was built on the same grounds as the current structure. However, the second one burned to the ground in the great capitol fire of 1881.

At that time though, plans for a new capital had already been drawn up and approved. Today’s third capitol building was completed in 1888 and was known, at the time, as the seventh largest building in the world. The capitol building itself is topped by a massive dome that makes it the sixth tallest in the United States, and one of only a few taller than the US Capitol Building in Washington DC.

The obverse of these 100 oz Texas Mint Silver Bars features an interior view of the ceiling of the rotunda. Offering a view you’d receive if you stood on the ground floor in the capitol building and looked up, the design features the same concentric panels that gradually rise to an apex in the dome. It is capped off in the center, in real life, with an eight-foot Texas star. That star features in the center of this design as well.

On the reverse of the Texas Mint Silver Bar you’ll find the trademarked outline of the state of Texas. This figure is engraved in a repeating array with neat, orderly rows.
