Coins in Mint State 69 condition show full, original mint luster, but also include a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These flaws are limited to minuscule hairlines or contact marks found only outside the primary focal areas of the coin.

American Platinum Eagle fractional-weight coins were only available in bullion from 1997 to 2008. The coin program in its entirety was halted in 2008 during the Great Recession due to high demand for American Silver Eagle coins and the need for production capacity to meet that demand, among other factors.

The ¼ oz American Platinum Eagle Coins in this listing feature year-of-issue marks from 1997 to 2008, with the highest production years for bullion ¼ oz American Platinum Eagles occurring in 1999 and 1998, respectively.

The reverse of the ¼ oz American Platinum Eagle Coin includes the Eagle Soaring Above America design. This was created by Thomas D. Rogers in 1997 for the American Platinum Eagle, and is the only design to have featured on the bullion and proof version in the same year (1997).

On the obverse of all ¼ oz American Platinum Eagle coins is the image of Lady Liberty, as visible on the Statue of Liberty. Created specifically for the Platinum Eagle in 1997 by John Mercanti, then-US Mint Chief Engraver, the image features a close-up visual of Lady Liberty’s face as she gazes into the future.

All ¼ oz American Platinum Eagle coins were a product of the West Point Mint in the US Mint system, which handles production of all American Silver Eagle and American Gold Eagle coins as well.
